Professional footballer Masato Morishige turned his 2022 New Year's resolution tweet into an NFT, creating a new way to connect with supporters. The NFT was sold by auction on HEXA from 11:11 on January 11, 2022 to 11:10 on January 18, and was won for ¥220,111 by FC Tokyo supporter Pojiko ( @pojibucho ). Morishige will use the funds raised by the auction to buy season tickets so that the Arakawa Ward Football Association's futsal class for children with intellectual disabilities can be invited to every match.
In HEXA's NFT auctions, bidders' and winners' X (formerly Twitter) accounts are linked, and Morishige could follow the bidding in real time. This sparked communication through the NFT between Morishige and the bidders during the auction, and with the winner, Pojiko, afterward, creating a new kind of interaction with fans.
Because this NFT auction required no crypto or wallet and was paid by credit card in Japanese yen, fans and supporters unfamiliar with crypto were also able to take part, opening up new communication between Morishige and his fans and supporters.
